Demonstrate personal ownership of the Fleet Feet brand and drive to advance the Fleet Feet Customer Experience

Responsible for development and growth specific to our Apparel and Running Essentials business.

This dual-role position supports the Solutions and Experience Teams, uniquely positioned to grow our Apparel and Running Essentials business. The position has responsibility for all stores in our business family, and will primarily report to and take direction from the lead Retail Experience Manager and General Manager. The position will also work closely with the Solutions Team to manage inventory levels and product sell-through.

Qualifications

Customer Experience

  • Designated Apparel and Running Essentials expert with a deep understanding of the running marketplace and the experience to anticipate opportunities to grow our running business.
  • Sales process leader and face of our Apparel and Running Essentials business.
  • Designated trainer for all apparel and running essentials products, responsible for empowering Outfitting Team to maximize cross sales opportunities.

Merchandising and Retail Sales Floor Management:

  • Create engaging and inspiring merchandising stories through displays, signage and store sets in each of our stores.
  • Responsible for leading our teams in the regular merchandising and maintenance of our stores, ensuring all product is organized and effectively presented
  • Maintain back-stock in an organized manner which allows for staff and store management teams to easily locate and identify product for merchandising.
  • Responsible for all retail floor signage (not just for apparel) to call out any category specific messages. All work must reflect brand standards.

Staff Education

  • Lead trainer for all Apparel and Running Essential categories, vendors and products.
  • Initiate staff training during slower floor times and coordinate with the store manager and team leaders to educate staff throughout the week in short educational segments.
  • Create staff contests and promotions as necessary to achieve sales, inventory management and profitability goals.
  • Coordinate with vendor representatives, in conjunction with store manager, for additional educational opportunities at staff meetings or feature events at the store.
  • Train new staff on apparel and merchandising basics during new employee training.

Buying & Planning

  • Create buying plans and write orders to support business goals.
  • Viewing apparel lines with vendors and completing futures orders based on historical sales forecasts and projections.
  • Maintain a calendar and organized system of tracking incoming orders.
  • Manage “at once” buying throughout the season and review futures orders to ensure orders are revised as appropriate.
  • Forecast and maintain strategic inventory levels to support growth objectives and control inventory costs
  • Timely coordination of merchandising and staff training with new product arrivals and updates.

Marketing

  • Communicate with marketing team on featured apparel and running essentials stories. Provide imagery and copy as needed to the store marketer to include on social media, website and newsletter.
  • Remain current on apparel vendor promotions to ensure we are maximizing our ability to promote and sell product.
  • Imagine, create and execute special events to educate targeted customer groups to grow our Apparel and Running Essentials business. Special events to include Race Expo’s, In-Store and Community Special Events.

Regular Reporting and Communication

  • Regular reporting to owners and store managers on the health of the Apparel and Running Essentials business.
  • Vendor and SKU Analysis – Grade and model adjustments based upon ROI and turns; strategic adjustments to inventory strategies and levels; inventory exit planning.
  • Weekly Inventory Reporting – inventory levels; identify opportunities and risks.
